MCP Integration
Connect Tellnest to Claude Desktop, Claude Code, and other MCP-compatible AI clients. Publish HTML stories, manage your library, and get shareable links without leaving your editor.
Quick start — Claude Desktop
1. Generate an API key at Settings → API Keys
2. Add to your ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"tellnest": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "tellnest-mcp@latest"],
"env": {
"TELLNEST_API_KEY": "tn_live_your_key_here",
"TELLNEST_URL": "https://tellnest.com"
}
}
}
}3. Restart Claude Desktop. Tellnest tools will appear automatically.
Remote MCP — Claude.ai
For Claude.ai web, use the remote MCP endpoint with OAuth:
MCP endpoint: https://tellnest.com/api/mcp
Auth: OAuth 2.0
Auth URL: https://tellnest.com/oauth/authorize
Token URL: https://tellnest.com/api/oauth/token
Or use Bearer token auth with a Tellnest API key directly.
Available tools
publish_storywritePublish an HTML document to Tellnest and get a shareable URL. Accepts title, html, and audience (public/invite/just-me).
list_my_storiesread-onlyList your published and draft stories. Returns title, URL, status, and view count.
update_storywriteUpdate an existing story by its hash. Change title, HTML content, or access level.
Claude Code plugin
Install via Claude Code plugin marketplace:
/plugin marketplace add ernesthilvano/tellnest /plugin install tellnest@tellnest
Then use /tellnest:publish-story and /tellnest:list-stories skills.
Authentication
Two auth methods are supported:
API Key — generate at Settings → API Keys. Pass as:
Authorization: Bearer tn_live_your_key # or X-API-Key: tn_live_your_key
OAuth 2.0 — for integrations that support OAuth. Use the authorization flow above. Access tokens start with tn_oauth_.
